ScaleOut Software End User License Agreement
ScaleOut Software’s products are licensed under the ScaleOut Software End User License Agreement.
A license key is required to use ScaleOut products. ScaleOut Software issues license keys for evaluation as well as for license purchase. On-premises use is licensed on a per Server Unit License (SUL) basis where a SUL is defined as a set of up to 8 logical processors (or logical CPUs) running one ScaleOut server process. If a ScaleOut server process runs on more than 8 logical processors, then an additional Server Unit License is required for each multiple of up to 8 logical processors running the process.
No license key is required for ScaleOut hServer Community Edition.

ScaleOut Support and Maintenance Subscription Agreement
ScaleOut Software support and maintenance requires a paid subscription and is provided under the terms and conditions in the ScaleOut Software Support and Maintenance Subscription Agreement. A detailed description of support and maintenance plans and services can be found here.
System Requirements
The following environments are supported:
Hardware:
ScaleOut products run on servers connected by a TCP/IP network; gigabit Ethernet or faster is strongly preferred. (Note that the product’s service component must be installed on all servers that will be joined to form a ScaleOut in-memory data grid.)
Software:
- Windows operating system – Currently supported Windows Server releases (e.g. Windows Server 2016). Transparent support is provided for ASP.NET 2.0, 3.x, and 4.x session-state storage, Java J2EE Servlet session-state, and Spring session-state.
- Linux operating system – Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, or Debian 8.
